Original version 01.07.00. Trace Page Numbers Score and Parts writes the pages numbers in a full score and all of its parts to the Plugin Trace Window. It displays the total number of pages in the score or part, and then breaks down the pages into 3 groups:

The number of blank pages, such as title pages and front matter, before the page containing the first bar of music.

The number of pages containing music, namely the page containing the first bar of music through and including the page containing the last bar of music.

The number of blank pages following the last page of music.

It then displays the page number for the first page containing music, along with an indication of whether that page is a left-handed page or a right-handed page. The "handedness" of that page is based on the internal or sequential page number, where the first internal page number is always 1.

The displayed or external page number, which is the one that is printed on the pages of the score, is used by Sibelius in its Spreads view, but that does not reflect the handedness of the first page of music when the score is printed double-sided to a printer. If the calculation is done with the internal page number, the handedness will be correct for double-sided printed pages.

If the internal page number is even, the page will be marked "L", for left-handed. A page with an odd internal number will be marked R, for right.

For the handedness display, the page number will show both the external page number and the internal page number in parentheses if the numbers are different.

This plugin processes the current score only. To process a folder of scores, run Run Plugin on Folder of Scores, and have it run Trace Page Numbers Score and Parts.
