Add Fingering To Notes for Sibelius 7 and Later

Version 02.14.00
Added 28 Aug 2018 (last updated 14 Jul 2021)

For use with Sibelius 7.1, Sibelius 7.5, Sibelius 8.x, Sibelius 18.x, Sibelius 19.x, Sibelius 20.x, Sibelius 21.x, Sibelius 22.x, Sibelius 23.x and Sibelius 24.x

This plugin is essentially the same as Add Fingering To Text with a different user interface.

The old plugin used a hidden listbox to capture keystrokes, but it was broken by listbox handling changes in Sibelius 7, requiring you to type very slowly or lose keystrokes.I have rewritten the dialog to use an edit box and a button instead of a keypad/listbox. While it now takes 2 keystrokes to enter each now number, I have tried to make the numeric entry as efficient as I could. Other than the dialog, the plugin works the same way it used to.

When the plugin starts, the focus will be in the edit box, and the fingering text of the first note, if any, will be selected in the edit box. You can immediately type a new number and it will replace the contents of the edit box.

Now hit the Enter Key or click the Apply button, and the fingering text will be positions on the not, the next note will be selected, and the focus will return to the edit box, ready for another number.

You will have to get a rhythm for typing number, Enter, number, EnterYou should be able to use either the keypad or keyboard numbers and Enter/Return key.

You can type the special characters /, -, + or =, (. period), and ,(, comma) to activate the other buttons. Again, either the numeric keypad or the keyboard characters will work.

Reposition is new to this version of the plugin. When you type and come to where the selection would move off screen, the plugin will move the score enough so that the selection remains visible. Reposition is a more significant movement, equivalent to using Go To Bar, and it gives you a bit more space to work with.

A few things to note:

* The text style is now available on the main dialog instead of in Options.

* There is no keypad for clicking on with the mouse. If you want to use that, the shipping plugin Add Fingering To Notes is still available and it has the keypad.

* Text sets have been eliminated, since you can now type in anything you want. Again, if you really have a need for that feature, it is still available in the shipping version, but you will need to type slowly or use the mouse to make effective use of it.

Updated 30 August 2018. Version 02.00.01. Corrected typo in dialog.

Updated 31 August 2018. Version 02.00.02. Fixed problems with Erase All. It is now disabled if the original selection is not a passage selection. To emphasize that only selected notes are processed, the original selection is maintained while the plugin is running, as it was in the original Add Fingering To Notes.

Updated 14 September 2018. Version 02.12.03.Many new options for positioning fingering above and below as well as beside notes. There is a new Restart option to let you process a selection multiple times.

You can also enter pima and circled number text directly for guitar fingering.

Updated 7 May 2021. Version 02.12.05. Added RedrawScore = True call in case this was called by a plugin that turned that off.

Updated 14 July 2021. Version 02.14.00. Change interface in Sib 7 or later to collect input in a visible edit box with an Enter key. This will make input more reliable, if less convenient. You may type multiple characters, but you must press Enter to apply the text in the edit box to the selected notes.
