Color Notes On String

Version 03.00.00
Added 13 Sep 2010 (last updated 01 Feb 2018)

For use with Sibelius 7.1, Sibelius 7.5, Sibelius 8.x and Sibelius 18.x

Allows you to specify a color for each string of a stringed instrument (up to 12 strings), and to color selected notes that are marked with the string the note is on. String 1 is the lowest pitched string of the instrument.

To mark the notes, copy the notes from a notation staff to a TAB staff, adjust the strings as needed, then copy the TAB notes back to the notation staff. Now run the plugin. Notes that are not marked will not be colored.

You can set up your own coloring scheme and it will be saved across Sibelius sessions. You can also edit the color RGB values. All notes in a chord will have the same color.

Updated 26 April 2016 to allow coloring of individual note objects

Updated 1 February 2017. Rewritten to allow string number 1 to represent the highest, rather than the lowest string, and to allow coloring of only the notes that fall on open strings. Another new option is to have the plugin remove coloring of all selected notes before any other notes are colored, to make rerunning on changed pitches easier.

The new version will only run on Sib 7.1.3 or later; there is a second plugin file in the zip file that will run, without the new features, in Sib 5 or 6.

If you run the plugin in Sib 8.3 or later, notes in chords can have different colors; prior to that coloring any note in a chord colors all the notes in the chord.

This plugin will work on any Tablature staff, but will only work on notation staves that have been set up to add string numbers to the notes. See Help on the dialog for instructions on setting up the score.
