I'm hoping that someone will be able to make, or adjust the plug in that puts note names in note heads, at absolute pitch names, to be able to input the solfa names of notes d,r,m etc [and of course solfa are in lower case letters for use in class music], into the note heads.
It was quite a work to create these in Inkscape and if I had have the knowledge of today I would have constructed them in a different way to make it easier to create new ones, eg. with lower case letters. But for future: What exactly should the solfege names look like?
d or do etc.?
thanks for your reply. With solfege, the reason that the letters are lower case is so that they will not be confused with the absolute pitch letter names of notes. Apparently the convention is that Letter names of notes are always in capital letters, but solfege are in lower case and I believe this is so that musicians don't confuse any of the solfege names of d [doh], and f [fah] with letter names of D and F when reading and singing in solfege. I'm not sure if that is the reason, but that is possibly what it is. With using solfege, the shortened forms of the names are just the first letter of each solfege name, hence doh = d, re - r, mi - m etc.
I know that when you flatten or sharpen a degree, the note name changes so for example, f or fah becomes fis, ti or t, when flattened becomes ta.
I suppose the way to get around that is to just leave the solfege letters as they are in the note heads, if their are flats or sharps in the key signature, and the reader has to remember that the key signature means you will sing those notes with the correct changed vowel sound after the changed note - so, they just have to remember that all f are fis if there is a G major/E minor key signature etc., so you wouldn't worry about making changes to any solfa by adding an extra letter inside the note head.
wow -absolutely fantastic! thank you so much for this. I'm just off for school, so I'll try this out tonight when I get home from school with Sibelius.
