Groovy Music
Posted by Dollar Academy - 03 Feb 02:42PM
Our school music department currently runs the entire Sibelius Educational Suite (Sib 6, Musition, Auralia and Groovy) as well as Pro Tools on 52+ machines. We're due to upgrade our network to Windows 7 and have to upgrade certain programs accordingly but I've been reading that Groovy Music won't run efficiently on Windows 7...
Is this true and if so, are Avid likely to do anything about it soon?

The Groovy Music programs will run on Windows 7 if you set them to run in Windows XP Compatibility Mode.

We don't have any plans for any Groovy updates at the moment.

It's not possible to run programs in Compatibility mode on a RM CC4 network. Any other solutions we can try?

What is a "RM CC4 network", and why does that prevent you using basic facilities of Windows?

Hi Robin

RM plc sells networking solutions and related technology; it does a lot of business with schools. CC4 is a product they sell called 'Community Connect 4'. (see www.rm.com)

I would not be able to speculate why you can't use XP compatibility mode.

I asked our support team about this, and this is what I was told:

"Groovy is unlikely to run without having the compatibility flags set. Windows's own software compatibility features kick in and will run Groovy as Admininistrator in Windows XP mode anyway, but this may be disabled in RM CC4. Please contact RM and ask them to try Groovy on CC4."
