446: Sibelius and GarageBand from Apple

For more information on GarageBand please click here.

If you create an audio.aiff file from Sibelius Kontakt you can drag the file directly into GarageBand.

GarageBand will not open midi files but a program called Dent Du Midi will convert Sibelius midi files to GarageBand files, but when you play the file in GarageBand you will find that all the tempo information has been lost.

Another alternative is to send the midi data out from Sibelius using the IAC Bus in Mac OS X while recording in GarageBand. To do this choose the 'Apple IAC Driver IAC Bus 1' as the midi output from Sibelius in the Play > Devices menu and as the midi input in GarageBand.
GarageBand will then capture all the midi data including the tempo. Once in GarageBand (either as an audio or midi file) you have access to the track volumne, bass, treble, echo and reverb.

Thanks to Paul Smith, Chaunceybee and others in the Sibelius chat page for this information.
