I'm pleased to announce the immediate availability of our fourth release of Sibelius this year. In this release:
* Toggle Auto-Respace for advanced music engraving
* Hide/Show and customise the Status Bar (now with new icons too!)
* Display the voice colors of staff objects
* Dynamically switch between feature sets of Ultimate, Artist and First (in Ultimate only)
* and we're increased the stave limitation in both Sibelius First and Sibelius Artist
- Sibelius First now supports up to 8 staves
- Sibelius Artist now supports up to 24 staves
* ...and on Sibelius for mobile on Android devices, we've introduced a nice new file browser.
Learn all about it, as well as a good collection of lovely improvements, here:
Ditto Patrick. I'm glad that there are users who rush in to find faults and bugs that need to be fixed before I take the plunge. I just want to keep on working w'out hassles and wait for a quiet time to try out any new features. I know I'm being selfish, but I'm also very nervous about trying anything new.
The feature to disable auto note respacing looks as if it should please people who need to make a last-minute edit to their score without causing a ripple effect on all subsequent layout. But I'm not sure that's quite what it offers. Try, see if you can work out just what it DOES do?
If "Auto note respacing" is disabled, the horizontal spacing in a bar remains unchanged, e.g. if you add accidentals to the notes. You can see what the feature does if you add an accidental to the first note in bar: The note remains on the same place, and the accidental goes back to the barline. In most cases the result looks very strange.
I am not sure if I need the feature.
What I was hoping for: Fast Moving notes all around with the mouse within a single bar regardless of any spacing and without changing other systems. This is, like before, possible by using the Inspector (typing digits for x- and y-positions of a note). So, the new feature is not what I expected.

I've dowloaded Sibelius2025.7, but I'm being asked to enter my activation ID. I have the activation ID, but Avid will not accept my password. I've contacted Avid chat and they gave me a new password. Unfortunately, Avid will not accept the new one. My case with Avid has been closed, but I've replied to the email informing me of that fact. Hopefully If Avid replies, the situation may eventually get resolved. Even so, it's very annoying to have this aggravation for a product for which I'm paying a yearly subscription. Maybe I should cancel my yearly subscription???
Daveje - that's really odd. I've asked Ingrid to step in and help. Check you can log into your account at https://my.avid.com/products where you'll find it easier to confirm your username and pw are correct for the account you're trying to log in with. You can also find your Activation ID and System ID there too, although it shouldn't be necessary to use those if you manage to log into Avid Link (since these are pulled down for you anyway).
Blunderbus - we get these reports sometimes, and after intensive testing and validation, we find these are false positives. I've also asked Ingrid to help you out more.

Thank you, Sam, for your response
I have just sent a message to AvisCustomerCare which reads as follows:
"I'm afraid that I am still having problems activating Sibelius 7.5. Also, Sibelius 2024.6 is still running.
However, when I open 7.5, I receive a message saying "Unable to start Avid License Control. Please verify that Avid License Control is installed correctly". When I click "OK", another message appears which says "Sibelius 7.5 cannot be activated now. Please contact Technical Support".
If I then click on "Continue Trial", none of my scores appear, and the NotePerformer logo doesn't appear either.
As I said, Sibelius 2024.6 is still running normally, and all of my scores are intact on Sibelius 2024.6.
I think something may have gone seriously wrong when downloading Sibelius 7.5. I was a little late in doing so, but I clicked on the "Download Now" link in the email that you sent to me. It was then that I received a strange message informing me that something may have expired. I was asked if I still wanted to go ahead with the download, and I clicked "yes". Maybe all of that has caused the problems. Advice on what to do now would be much appreciated, but I am anxious not to lose all of my scores that still exist in 2024.6.
Thank you."
I think that should explain a little more about the situation. Once again, thanks for your help.
Dave.

Please email me the (email) address associated with your My Avid account and/or Sibelius licenses so that we can assist you further. Also please note that if you are trying to run Sibelius 7.x versions and Avid License Control on Mac running the latest OS (beginning Catalina and higher), you won't be able to do so anymore as this is version is not supported on the mentioned operating systems.
> "I'm afraid that I am still having problems activating Sibelius 7.5.
Sibelius 7.x is incompatible with all macOS versions higher than macOS 10.14 Mojave, owing to changes in the macOS made by Apple since that time. Sibelius 7.x simply cannot be activated on any of those systems. You should not even bother trying.

Thank you, Robin. I'm running Sequoia 15.5, so that explains everything.
Dave.
In Sibelius First, Review: New Comment shows as available. And it actually DOES add a comment. But there's a gotcha - First users can't see it! Their tier doesn't support View: Comments. Sneaky! Wouldn't it be kinder to keep New Comment greyed out?
