Posted by Sam at Sibelius - 13 Mar 03:54PM
Hi All,

I'm pleased to announce the immediate availability of our March update to Sibelius. This is predominately a bug-fix release, with a number of smaller improvements. This has come from direct feedback from you all, so a huge thank you for your contributions.

We'd love to hear more about how we can make Sibelius even better, so feel free to reach out here, through my contact details below, or via our feedback form:

https://www.avid.com/sibelius/feedback

In this release, we've introduced over 40 improvements, spanning a wide range of issues. Here are some highlights:

* Pitch Correction Tool on the Keypad now works on all selected notes
* Lines, articulations, text and lyrics are retained when changing the voice of a tuplet
* Hidden or filtered-out notes now transpose
* Improvements to Notate Glissando
* ... and more!

You can read all about them here:

Enjoy!

Sam, and the Sibelius team

I recently installed version 2025.3 and am experiencing some issues. Nothing shows up when I try to copy music from a bass guitar staff to a bass TAB staff. Previously, this was a straightforward way to fill a TAB staff. Is this a bug, or is there a better method that I should try?

Anyone else have issues downloading 2025.3 update this through Avid Link? I keep getting a download error. Do I have to uninstall/reinstall manually? (Yuk)

Download the updater from your "My Avid" web account at https://my.avid.com/products and then install it.

There is no need to uninstall any previous version.

Thanks Guys for the update, and one of the fixes that I'm really happy about is the fix that score no longer jumps around during note entry when in vertical page view. I use this a lot for revision of scores already typeset. So glad it's fixed!

Much appreciated!

Hi again guys,

just wanting to ask if you would consider fixing up the problem with 8va staff playback. If you restart a score if you are fixing up notation after the 8va line is inserted into the score, it plays back at normal pitch. I believe this is a known one. The way around it is to delete the 8va line that has a length more than one bar, and then replace all of the individual bars that fall under that line, with individual 8va lines for each bar. This is kind of time consuming, and its quite a burden to have to do this. Would Sibelius programmers please consider this in another update? That would be great if possible.

Thanks,

Steve

I have never encountered this issue, cannot replicate it, and have not seen reports of it. It is often overlooked that for playback of 8va lines, you must start playback before the beginning of the 8va line. Perhaps this is your issue?

This is a "fix" for the wrong issue. Many more 8va lines will give many more opportunities to start playback in different places with correct behaviour since there are more instances of the start of an 8va line.

You can't expect to start playback just anywhere under an 8va line with the assumption that the octave transposition will work, because the flag that triggers 8va playback is encoded at the beginning of the line, and the end of the line turns it off. Similarly, if you click individual notes under an 8va line, they will not play back 8va.

Well, you can expect it. And it's a reasonable expectation. Sibelius 'chases' time signatures and key signatures in playback. It chases dynamics - you get an 'ff' even if you start playback at a point after the actual ff dynamic marking. But 8va lines don't work that way. I doubt it will be seen as a high-priority issue - it's just an inconvenience while creating a score, overall playback will be OK. But it is worth noting.

Fair point, Laurence. You could expect it, reasonably. I should have prefaced my statement with "As the program currently operates,....".
