It's an absolute pleasure to announce the immediate availability of our February release of Sibelius. This introduces new features across Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android that enhance the way parts are prepared. This comes after a successful previewing at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California, where Sibelius for Android and Chromebook won a TEC Award in the “Audio Apps & Hardware / Peripherals for Smartphones and Tablets” category! We want to thank the countless customers who voted for us, and we couldn’t be more proud!
If you have a perpetual license with an active Updates + Support plan or a subscription, you can download the update now from your Avid account through the Products page at https://my.avid.com/products. If you have an older version of Sibelius, you can upgrade to the latest (and keep your perpetual license) through the Upgrade + Renew page at https://www.avid.com/sibelius/upgrades-and-renewals.
New: Automatic Decondensing Parts
Sibelius will create two new Dynamic Parts from a single stave, rename them for you, and show only the music relevant to each player. This is all possible with a new feature called “Staff Filters.”
Other updates in 2025.2 include the following features and bug fixes:
* Highlights no longer eek into the next bar, so they don’t break multirests
* Independently mute instruments in the Mixer in each Score Subset and the full score
* Instrument changes placed on a Dynamic Guitar Tab Stave for other Dynamic Guitar Staves will no longer be shown as notation
* Kontakt 8 now appears as a “Kontakt” device rather than an ordinary VST/AU plugin
* Standard Magnetic Layout commands are now available on mobile
* Sibelius no longer crashes when setting any box to a number larger than 10 in the page margins in Document Setup
* Sibelius also no longer crashes when receiving MIDI events while running plugins

Open Dorico and see how it is implemented there. Sibelius doesn't even have a piano roll and the ability to prescribe automations. Epic lol

I appreciate your attention to the highlights issue. Just a reminder, there are still other tools that behave exactly like that (i.e., lines that extend into the next beat. For example, ritard, accel.)
I, for one, would appreciate a continued "chipping away" at these leftover issues like this.

I don't chime in that often, but thanks to the whole Sibelius team for your continued hard work. From programmers to the support team. Not an easy task to fulfill everybody's particular needs. I use Sibelius on a daily basis for all sorts of different types of scores and it always does the job. Sure, there's always room for improvement, but you know that anyway.
As far as I'm concerned, the few times that I had to encounter support, all went well and the problem was resolved asap. As for the technicalities of Sibelius that sometimes elude me, all the knowledgeable people in this forum are always there to help. So thanks again.
Congratulations! - this is a really great update. Thank you to all of the Avid programmers and management staff for this update. The imagination reels at the thought of the millions of lines of codes that had to be used to create this new update, and the hundreds of hard hours of work looking at screens and talking together of what should happen etc, the late nights and also the excitement with the programmers when they press the button, and the magic in the score appears! Looking forward to trying this out! Well done Sam and everyone else at Avid!
Congratulations, to all the team, on a very good update. It has been a very long time coming, but this ability to decompress a two instrument staff onto two individual staves that are still dynamic is well worth it!

Downloaded file. Has corrupted sounds on my scores when playing through genos keyboard ... e.g voice is now piano, drums are now piano, voice2 is violin. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, problem still there. How do I get right sounds? Thanks.
This version has at least two bugs:
- After Live Recording you need to enter Input Devices menu - until that usb device is locked - can't play on midi keyboard
- After Recording the metronome stays on - you need to manually switch this off for playback
and 2025.2 version feels slower on the same hardware
I have downgraded and all that returned ok

J'ai le même souci que Jean Courtioux, je ne peux plus ouvrir Sibelius Ultimate alors que j'ai acheté une mise à jour de licence le 2 janvier 2025. Je n'arrive pas à désinstaller la version précédente pour mettre la nouvelle. Que faire? J'ai déjà désinstaller et réinstaller plusieurs fois Sibelius.

Please email me through the link below so that we can open a support case for you and assist. Kindly attach a screenshot of the error message on Avid Link when attempting to download and install(?) Sibelius. Kindly include the following details as well:
- current operating system (Mac? Windows?)
- Sibelius system ID

This is usually caused by buggy or out-of-date VST or AU plug-ins that have become incompatible with the current macOS, and not by Sibelius itself. You should conduct an audit of all installed plug-ins: update the plug-in if updates are available from the original manufacturer, or uninstall plug-ins which are out-of-date and for which no updates exist.

Whilst it's admirable that there are still regular updates, they appear to add extra superfluous functions and minor fixes, yet don't address major issues like lack of VST3 support, no dark mode or piano roll and no accurate way to deal with note timings in milliseconds (rather than ticks which is tempo dependent).
VST 3 has been around since 2008 and VST2 was completely discontinued over 3 years ago!
