AZERTY Keyboard
Posted by Alan - 19 Jan 09:22AM
Hello all.
Can anyone tell me if Sibelius Ultimate (English) would work with an AZERTY Keyboard? Apart from some obvious shortcuts and the number pad, would it work in eg titles, instrument names etc. and anything else?
Thanks.

Yes, it should work fine. The one thing that may not behave quite as expected is the decimal point. This depends on what type of keyboard, whether it is PC or Mac, etc etc. I have never found a clear logic as to why it sometimes works (it does for me, using the decimal on the number pad where possible) and sometimes not. I have the program set to English - not to "automatically detect application language". My computer is however set up to recognise that the keyboard is AZERTY, so all the other language settings are French.
Hope this helps !
D

Thanks Daniel. It will be Windows 11. Are you using the AZERTY keyboard for Sibelius input? That would be a real bonus to me.I can't imagine how triplets would be possible for example.

Triplets work fine : Ctrl+3 (without Shift) does the job. For pitches I usually use a midi keyboard, but the letters work fine too : A at the left of the top row of keys, for example. The only thing that might not work is the 6 : this key (without Shift) is reserved for the hyphen on a PC AZERTY keyboard. (It works on a Mac kyeboard.) The only way to get around this is reprogramming the key - it is possible but a bit of a bind, and obviously not very practical if you use the keyboard for anything other than Sibelius.
BTW the key presses indicated in shortcuts and Word menus are a bit rubbish – they often show up as nonsense (crazy things you cannot actually find on the keyboard, like cap Ç or ô). But I don't find this terribly important.
Cheers
David

A bit late for his I know, but do you mean your computer (Windows?) is set to French?
