bracketed accidental
Posted by earmsby - 17 Jan 07:29PM
I'm trying to add square brackets around an accidental similar to the way adding a parenthesis around an accidental works. The manual says this:

To manually add square brackets to an accidental, type the brackets as Technique text.
(Advanced users: if you need to use square-bracketed accidentals frequently, you can easily
create new symbols for common accidentals in brackets, or modify the parenthesized accidentals,
which are already available as symbols.)

I tried following that advice but the brackets appear above the staff (like you would expect technique text to). It doesn't seem possible to place the brackets with the accidental next to the note and have the measure spacing adjust to fit.

It seems like this should be possible. What am I missing? Thanks!

For the square brackets only, turn off Magnetic Layout, and drag them to where you want them.
