We are currently running Sibelius 7.1.3.77 on 20 x V15-IIL Laptop which where purchased in May 2021 and has been working without issue until now, the laptops in question are I5-1035 with 8GB system ram, Windows 10 Edu.
We are seeing an increase of incidents of Sibelius crashing while students are using it, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, It seems to happen most frequently when the programme is asked to play back students' work.
Event view does show a Application Error for Sibelius, see below.
Looking at 0xc0000005, this seems to be an access violation, possibly running our of memory?
Can anyone shed any light on the below crash error to confirm this?
Thanks to all who takes the time to read / answer.
This ancient version of Sibelius is not compatible with Windows display DPI scaling of more than 100%, and is liable to crash unpredictably if the DPI scaling is more than 100%.
If the Sibelius crashes stop happening if the Windows DPI Scaling is set down to 100% (and Windows re-booted afterwards), then I can provide a Windows Compatibility setting to enable Sibelius 7 to continue being used with DPI Scaling of 125% or higher.

Sibelius 2023.6/7.5.1/7.1.3/6.2/5.2.5, PhotoScore Ult 2020.1, Windows 10 64-bit 16GB. Desktop, and Microsoft Surface Book.
- ensure that Sibelius is fully quit (if unsure, restart Windows and do not launch any applications);
- do the following in Windows File Explorer:
- navigate to the folder location:
C:\Program Files\Avid\Sibelius 7\
- in that folder, right-click on the icon of the file named "Sibelius.exe", and select "Properties";
- in the panel "Sibelius.exe Properties", click tab "Compatibility";
- click the button "Change high DPI settings";
- in the next panel, in the lower section "High DPI scaling override", check the box "Override high DPI scaling behaviour", and...
- set "Scaling performed by:" to "System";
- click "OK" all the way out again.
Now try launching Sibelius 7.1.x, and check that it does not crash.
If setting "Scaling performed by:" to "System" works OK, you could experiment with setting it to "System (Enhanced)". If that goes wrong, you should revert to "System".
End of fix.

Sorry! I have just realised that the instructions I gave above were for Sibelius 8 and later. I have now corrected the post above to be suitable for Sibelius 7.
