There was a vocal group round here called the Accafellas. One of them played euphonium too. Just thought I'd mention it.

One "p" (à la Mike) or two "p"s (à la James)? ;-)
The Oxford Dictionary of Music lists it both ways, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Hi there

Well, 'cappella' is correct Italian, and I would always use 'a cappella'. Since it is considered to be an English phrase, I'd keep an eye on English dictionaries. The two I tend to use (Chambers and Oxford) seem to have 'a cappella' and not 'a capella', so I would avoid using the latter.

Of course, these things can change over time, so this advice might be wrong by next year.
