Hi, I just wondered if it's possible to paste/repeat a chunk of music such that the original beaming is preserved? As in example II. Very time consuming to do it manually.
If you are pasting to the same start beat as the source, the edited beaming is preserved. If, however, you are pasting to a different start beat than the source, the beaming reverts to normal default. I fear you are hoping to preserve your edited beaming in the latter case. In your example the beaming pattern does not repeat itself until the start of the 6th measure of 4/4 time.
Thanks for the reply. Yes. So I guess I want to be able to paste to any beat I choose without it reverting to the default. You're saying that's impossible?
I don't know of any way to preserve the edited beaming unless you can stick to the 20 beat rule. I'm quite surprised that the beaming is preserved when repeating 5 measures. Maybe there's a magic plug-in somewhere.
Why not consider a slur over the bar line instead of a beam? Would that work for you in this instance to denote grouping (as these are not quintuplets, I assume your goal is grouping for easier sight reading)?
