I recently upgraded my music production studio, and purchased a Mac M1 running OS 12.4 (I haven't updated my OS to Ventura/13.2.1 due to potential issues with the software associated with my RME Fireface I/O, but that's a separate problem). BTW, I do own and use a Pro Tools Studio license, so have an AVID account. I also recently purchased an unopened Sibelius 7.5.1. Before doing so, I researched and understood that it would work with my new M1.
I endeavored to install and activate Sibelius, but had issues. I therefore went online to the AVID website and tried all of the suggestions I found, but to no avail. After many frustrating hours of attempts, I put it away for a few weeks.
Today, I tried again. When I open Sibelius. and click on "Activate", it states, "Unable to start Avid License Control". In addition, the AVID website states to activate my version of Sibelius, I should activate offline/manually, and should do so through Avid License Control. When I go to ALC ALC/Utilities, it tells me "AvidLicenseControl needs to be updated". I cannot find ANYWHERE on the website a way to update ALC, nor is the option to do so offered in the utilities.
Does anyone know what I can do to get ALC and Sibelius working in my system?
Besides the fact that you can no longer register/activate old versions of Sibelius online, Sibelius 7.5 will not work correctly (or at all) on a recent Mac OS machine. You'll have to upgrade to the latest version of Sibelius Ultimate.

PC and Laptop: Windows 7 and 10. 8GB RAM. Sib 6.2 and 7.13
Sibelius 7.x, and its licensing system Avid License Control, is completely incompatible with any version of macOS later than 10.14 Mojave, owing to the changes that Apple have made to the macOS since Sibelius 7.x was released.
If you have macOS 12.4 and you wish to use Sibelius, then you must upgrade your Sibelius installation to the latest version of "Sibelius Ultimate".
