Hi, I am just getting back into composing and I'm facing a technical challenge.
At the moment I am using Sibelius 7.1.3. I used to have it drive a Roland XV-5050 synthesiser module with a sound set. It all worked well.
I have just bought a Roland Fantom 08, which is lovely, but I can't work out how to drive it from Sibelius as there seem to be no sound set and no ability to create one (is this true - the old editor seems not to be available).
I have emailed the Sound Set project but their website looks as if it it hasn't been updated for a while.
Sibelius 7.1.3 does enough for me but is this a case of me needing to upgrade to the latest version? How does the new version cope with this?
I have tried to find a solution to this but have failed so far. I suspect I am looking at the problem in the wrong way.
Later versions of Sibelius do not have any features which would make the Roland Fantom 08 any different for playback than you experience now with 7.1.3.
I do not have enough information about the Fantom 08 to know what to do about SoundSets. If the Fantom 08 has a playback mode which is compatible with the "General MIDI" specification, or the "Roland GS" specification, then those are the SoundSets that you would select and use for basic score playback.
