Hi,

I'm not able to open Sibelius anymore. Every time I try it crashes. I made sure that everything is up to date. I also attached the crash-log.

Please help, I'm totally lost....

My system :
MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
Prozessor 2,3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
Speicher 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

My MacOS Version: Monterey Version 12.4

Avid Link installed: 2022.5.1

Sibelius Ultimate installed: 2022.5

Crash logs cannot be attached on this forum.
What are the visible symptoms of this "crash"?
Please attach screen-shots of any error situation (but not the Avid Crash Reporter).
If the crash occurs while the Sibelius splash screen is on display, then please quote the latest progress message from the bottom left-hand corner of the splash screen before the crash occurs.

When does it crash?
During the loading screen?
When Sibelius is running or in Quick Start?

I am having at least 5 crashes a day with this version, I've had to revert to 22.3 to work. But it was launching and running, just crashing in too many occasions.

Hi,

it crashes during the loading screen, while the playback system is initiated (see attachment, hopefully it shows now)

It don't get to the QuickStart Menu and it doesn't matter how I start it (Desktop shortcut or avid link act.)

So I'm not able to open the app 100% of the time.

Crashes at this point during launching of Sibelius are usually attributable to factors outside of Sibelius, such as:
- buggy or out-of-date VST;
- buggy or out-of-date AU;
- buggy or out-of-date MIDI driver.

You should check what AUs, VSTs, MIDI drivers are installed in the macOS, and for each, check whether they are compatible with the current version of macOS. For each such object, update it if necessary from the manufacturer's support site, or uninstall it, if it is incompatible and no updates exist for it.

If, after eliminating the possibility that the crash might be caused by VSTs, AUs, or MIDI Drivers, then sometimes crashes might be cured by restoring all Sibelius Preferences to their default values: this can be achieved by trashing the file "com.avid.sibelius.plist" from the folder:

~/Library/Preferences/

where "~/Library" stands for the User Library, not the System Library "/Library".

That really sounds plausible, thank you!

It will be tedious doe, way to many plugins...

You wehre right, It really was a VST Update Issue, thank you very much! I just have to say, that Sibelius is a delicate flower, compared to other music software... Every thing els worked perfectly ;-)
