Hello, I have a strange and very frustrating issue after upgrading to sibelius ultimate. Dynamics do not work over tied notes. I have tried everything I know how to do, and the only solution so far was to eliminate the ties in order to have some feeling for the dynamics. Obviously, this is really not ideal. What am I missing here? I never had this issue with the older version I'd been using for years. You'll find the score attached.

Please advise. Thank you

You have live playback turned on.You will never get satisfactory playback of your dynamics like that. Set live playback off and your dynamics should return.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, that definitely helped. I still have sometimes the issue with the ties, but using the dynamic plugin seems to work now.

One problem is that the Playback Configuration is set to "General MIDI (Basic)", which does not support the changing of dynamics over sustained long notes. You should select Playback Configuration "Sibelius 7 Sounds" for a configuration that is capable of changing dynamics over long sustained notes.

uff, one more thing regarding that! In bar 35, I have cresc. to piano, pause and then pianissimo. This pianissimo is louder than the piano before. Live playback is turned off. Is there something else really obvious here that I am missing?

Check your playback dictionary definitions to make sure they are set correctly and check the termination point of any dim/cresc hairpins and the attachment points of all your immediate dynamics. In the score, they can easily be dragged from their proper place.

Have you followed Robin's suggestion? That may also be causing an issue.

Yes, as I said above, with Playback Configuration "General MIDI (Basic)", the dynamics of long sustained notes cannot change.
