Siblius 2021.2 start with crash Posted by erich2407 - 18 Jul 07:58AM Hide picture Sibelius always starts with a crash ("An error occurred in Sibelius") My PC is running Windows 10 Pro (21H1). Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI) / Realtek Audio (driver version 6.0.8960.1) I installed and activated Siblius 2021.2. When Siblius is started, the program crashes during the action "Initialize playback system" (see attached screenshot). Re: Siblius 2021.2 start with crash Posted by erich2407 - 21 Jul 08:54PM Hide picture I have now noticed that the PlogueEngine_x64 file was last changed on 01/30/2021. I had previously installed Siblius-Unlimited 8.4.1, which also had produced this start-up crash. That's why I uninstalled this Sibelius perpetual version on July 17th, 2021, crossgraded to Sibelius 2021.2 and installed this new version. Unfortunately the start crash is also with the new version. Re: Siblius 2021.2 start with crash Posted by Robin Walker - 22 Jul 07:36AM Hide picture The problem is the "Realtek ASIO" sound driver on your PC. Sibelius and "Realtek ASIO" are incompatible. Modern versions of Sibelius have "Realtek ASIO" on a black-list, and avoid using it, but old versions like 8.4.1 did not. If you have updated Sibelius, please repeat the process and attach a new copy of "PlogueEngine_x64.log". Please ensure that you have closed down Sibelius before taking a copy of this file. You should avoid using this device. AFAIR, it has not worked with Sibelius for some time. Try a different device. I would consider disabling it in device manager. This log is not from Sibelius Ultimate, and it dates from January 2021!! Where did you get it from???? It is in fact identical to the one you posted before. - ensure that Sibelius is fully quit; - Using Windows File Explorer, navigate to the folder: C:\Program Files\Avid\Sibelius\ - From that folder open the file "asioblacklist.txt" into NotePad plain text editor (NOT a word process such as Word); - After the current contents of the file, add a single line containing precisely: Realtek ASIO - and then save the new contents to a file in a folder location to which you are allowed to write (you will not be allowed to save directly from Notepad into C:\Program Files\ ); - then use Windows File Explorer to copy that new version back to the original location (you will be prompted for Administrator authority): C:\Program Files\Sibelius\Avid\asioblacklist.txt - now launch Sibelius. - If you still get an Audio Engine error, then quit Sibelius, and post another copy of PlogueEngine_x64.log -- Sibelius 2021.2/7.5.1/7.1.3/6.2/5.2.5, PhotoScore Ult 2020.1, Windows 10 64-bit 16GB. The directory "PlogueEngine" can be found under the path User / AppData / Roaming / Avid / Sibelius (screenshot1). I don't know why this directory is not updated in the course of today's reinstallation. But other directories in it have the date of the current installation 07/22/2021. Sibelius.exe is installed under the path C: / Program Files / Avid / Sibelius (screenshot2). I assure you that every time Sibelius runs, it creates new files in the PlogueEngine folder, and in the Playback Configurations folder. The fact that this is not happening on your computer indicates that something is non-standard in your Windows configuration, that is preventing Sibelius writing files. Is it possible that you have some non-standard anti-malware configuration on your PC, that is preventing Sibelius writing files? For instance, have you enabled Ransomware protection, without also granting an exclusion for Sibelius? "General MIDI (basic)" was entered in the "Configuration" field (see enclosed screenshots playback1 and playback2) Then in the Sibelius preferences under "Playback" I ticked "Load this playback configuration when starting Siblius" and selected "General MIDI (basic)" in the drop-down field below (see attached screenshot settings) As a result, I closed and restarted Sibelius several times. Always properly and without a crash. Sibuelis has now also played the "Start-Jingel" at the start. I was very happy about it and thought "it works now". But unfortunately Sibelius does not start again today, instead it terminates with the familiar window "An error occurred in Sibelius".
