Audio Engine Error: bad settings-- number: -9986 Internal PortAudio error
Posted by cheph - 11 Apr 04:05PM
I'm getting the Audio Engine Error message every time I launch Sibelius and am unable to output any audio from the program, I have looked at similar posts about this issue:

https://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/chat/chat.pl?com=thread&start=705944&groupid=3&&guest=1

but when I look in my PlogueEngine_64.log file I get this:

Error number: -9986 message: Internal PortAudio error

when others seem to get error number: -9999 Unanticipated host error

I had this error once before after I tried to share my audio on zoom, I was able to fix it by deleting the fake audio device it created, I followed these instructions for that:

https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/278520/remove-zoomaudiodevice-from-audio-devices

Anyway I have no ides what is causing it this time I have tried deleting the PlogueEngine_64.log and it looks like you can no longer change the bit depth for macs built in output anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
