Trumpet mute won't switch off
Posted by jazztrumpet5 - 20 Jan 07:30PM
Hello - I've never had this issue before the latest upgrade, where I'm seeing "open" "senza sord" et al not switching off muted trumpet sounds, be it harmon, plunger, or anything else. I'm using the Sibelius 7 Sounds (Jazz) configuration. Switching to another config isn't going to work for me, as there is no mute, fall, etc, and as a big band writer, I expect those sounds to be present.

I played this with Note Performer and all the mute markings and open work perfectly, and so do the falls, both in trumpets and 'bones, tho' I don't know what you expect from the little circles above the plunger sound.

I don't have Note Performer, just running through Sibelius, which is what I've always done. The circles and plusses designate whether the plunger is open or closed (or closed-to-open/"wah"). It saves time when sight-reading.

There is a known issue, new in 2020.12, whereby some playback dictionary entries (such as "open") are not having the intended effect.

In this case, insert technique text "nat." on a note or rest before the "open". You can "hide" the "nat." string if you don't want it to be visible to human players.

Ah, thanks! That works - hopefully that'll be a fix. It kind of messes with my workflow! But, for now, awesome. Appreciate it!
