Dear All,
Recently I had my computer updated to Windows 10. Sibelius 7 started to run very slowly - taking 20 minutes to load sounds up. On Avid's advice I took the plunge and bought Ultimate. The loading problem is now worse. And I get constant hanging and crashing. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I should say that I have a very powerful machine and prior to the new Windows my 3 hour opera was loading in less than a minute. Currently the programme is virtually unusable and I'm many quids down! Would be grateful if anyone here or from Avid can help.

Do you have an SSD drive? That will certainly help. NotePerformer will too. Takes less than a second to load a whole symphonic score.

Anti-virus products can cause this effect.
If you are running an anti-virus product, you should:
(a) exclude Sibelius.exe from real-time checks;
(b) exclude the entire Sibelius Sounds sample library from anti-virus scanning.

Another cause of slow sounds loading is a rotating hard disk: you should keep the sample library an an SSD.

And if the sample library is being stored on an external disk, there is really no hope if the connection is via USB 2.
