I am having recurring difficulties selecting items from the text gallery and have no idea why. I wonder if anyone could advise.

Let's say I want to add some Plain text in the score, on a page of music. I go to the Text tab and click on the down arrow next to 'Styles'.

The gallery then flashes onto the screen and off in an instant and I am returned to the score with the mouse pointer now blue, as if an item had been chosen from the gallery. I get no chance to choose the style I actually want.

This used to happen only occasionally, but now happens more often than not and is really slowing down my work. I assumed it was caused by some other action I had just taken - but this morning, the very first thing I wanted to do (after reaching the appropriate point in the score) was add some text and I got this strange behaviour.

This suggests a faulty mouse button to me. Can you try another mouse?

Also, are you aware that the old R-click menus still work? If you know what Text Style you want it's a rather quicker route to selecting it.

It's a wireless mouse so you may indeed be right. That solution had not occurred to me. The mouse behaves itself pretty well under other circumstances and my setup is rather dependent on its 'wirelessness'. But I like your right-click suggestion and will certainly be investigating your link further. The material you have provided looks fascinating and useful - thank you indeed!
