Question about beams in triplets
Posted by revlis7 - 29 Jul 07:40PM (edited 29 Jul 07:41PM)
Hi Forum,

In a composition, I have quarter note triplets; I want to change it to two eighth notes for each quarter note; when I do that, the beams make 2 groups of 3 eighth notes; I want 3 groups of two eighth notes. This is to emphasize the desired phrasing.

Poking around the UI and documentation, I can't figure out how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.

I attach a screen shot with the two groups of three eighth notes.

Thanks,
Robert

I think you need to create a single tuplet of ratio 6:4 in eighths, then re-arrange the beaming. I cannot think how you would notate the three duplets to indicate their tuple-ness.

Is this what you want? Each step in the process was done in the obvious way. First edit each triplet crotchet into two quavers - they will regroup into two groups of 3. Then re-beam using Keypad 3.

That worked. Thanks! I hadn't explored keypad 3 :-)
