displaced bar line

This bar line (see png) is offset from the end of the staff. I cannot close the gap! There are no hidden objects, no offsets, nothing...it's only this bar in the whole piece.
What could cause this?

There are hidden staves in the score. Un-hide them, and the cause of the gap might become apparent. It's probably a cautionary clef or signature.

Attach the sib file rather than just a snapshot of it and we can do better than an educated guess!

Does selecting the passage then Reset Note Spacing fix it?

It definitely has something to do with your layout. Deleting the little "keep bars together" icons above the top staff get rid of the space.

Why have you used these? Better to just put a system break where you want the page to change.

Delete the key signature at 3.

Reset Note Spacing.

Re-enter the key signature.

Go figure! :-)

As to the cause - is this in import? Sometimes Musicxml can throw up such anomalies.
