Sib. 8.x: Right click function faulty?
Posted by Nye Morton - 20 Sep 12:40AM
I was in progress with the attached lead sheet, and suddenly right click menus (for text, etc.) started coming up very large and mostly off screen. The problem does not exist with other scores.

All the right-click menus look normal when opened here.

R-klik working OK here too.
But (off topic) some of your changes don't fit.
Measure 6: Try Am7.
Measure 10: Try Fm(maj7).
Measure 14: Try Fm6.
Measure 22: Try Dm7/G.
Measure 28: G/F sounds nice.
First half of 34: Gm7/C.
43 onward: Same as from 5.

Apart from the choice of chords, there are peculiarities about construction of the chord symbols themselves. The slash/bass symbols appear to be two separate symbols dragged together.
Not something you're likely to have done on purpose! This must be a conversion or import from some other program? Where did you find it?

Here's the version from the old Wikifonia archive of MusicXML scores. Not the MOST accurate of sources, and I haven't cleaned up the import, but the chords are a lot more possible than the one you showed us.

Thanx for the attachment, Laurence. I guess my memory's still pretty good. Yes, Nye's slash chords are typed in two bits. Reducing line spacing to 35% in the chord symbol text style enables writing slash chords with dropped bass in a single string.

Oh, you think that's why he did it? It makes so little difference (see attached demonstration of his way and the 'right' way).

Anyway, isn't there a better method now? If you WANT your slash chords to be confusable with polychords. :-)

Thanks, I appreciate everyone's efforts. The observations on the chord choices are good. This started as a quickie transcription from a notoriously unreliable fake book and I hadn't gotten around to giving it a second look. As a bassist I've always found the slash chord with a dropped bass easier to read. I still haven't figured the right-click menu problem-- maybe I'll find a way to do a screen shot of the score with one of those huge menus showing.

Yes, Nye, this is something Sib has never been able to understand, which is why I always use legacy chord input. Reduce line spacing to 35%. Horizontal position: Align text frame to note left and text left.
PS. Never believe what you see in fake books until you have tried it, and felt happy with it.
