New features in Auralia 4 & Musition 4
Auralia 4 and Musition 4 contain significant new features, with emphasis on cross-platform compatibility, Solfège support, and extra curriculum support (including AP Music Theory).
Cross-platform compatibility
For the very first time, Auralia 4 and Musition 4 are available on Windows and Mac simultaneously, with the same feature set!
If you already use Auralia 2 for Mac, you can now upgrade to Auralia 4 to enjoy all the syllabus and customization features that Windows users have been enjoying for number of years, plus many other new features. And Musition is now finally available for Mac!
If your school has a mixed-platform network, the new versions of Auralia and Musition make this easy to deal with too. Not only is the software the same on all computers, regardless of platform, but every computer can communicate with a single network database, whether the client or server computers run Windows or Mac OS X.
So, for example, teachers with a Mac laptop can check on the results of students who are working in a Windows lab, set custom tests and levels, and monitor their progress and assessment.
Courses
The new Courses feature has been designed to makes navigating the topics and lessons of Auralia 4 and Musition 4 much easier. A Course will automatically guide students through various topics, levels and lessons steadily building essential Aural and Theory skills.
Courses target a particular pedagogical requirement with a predefined and integrated pathway of drills, lessons and tests. Courses for several syllabuses are supplied with Auralia and Musition, including a customized course for band students.
AP 1 Music Theory support
Auralia 4 and Musition 4 now include support for AP Music Theory, including a customized syllabus, plus courses and tests to make student preparation for AP Music Theory exams.
Solfège Support
In addition to the existing on-screen guitar and keyboard controllers, Auralia 4 and Musition 4 now feature an on-screen Solfège controller. This exciting new feature allows students to see questions displayed using Solfège note names (Do, Re, Mi, Fa etc.) and enter their answers the same way.
You can choose between a fixed Do or two variants of movable Do, and the musical notation now also supports the placing of Solfège note names underneath notes, so that students can see their correct and incorrect answers in either traditional notation and Solfège note names, or both.
Lessons
Auralia and Musition have always had extensive learning and reference materials available for students, in the form of Lessons screens. In version 4, all lessons have been refreshed, updated and expanded. Every screen now features a clean modern look and notation examples can be easily played back, simply by clicking on the notation with your mouse.
In today’s music classrooms and teaching studios, Lessons allow students to easily browse through subject areas that they aren’t familiar with and address problem areas quickly and easily, while also allowing students working outside the classroom to work more effectively without teacher supervision.
Interface
The new versions of Auralia and Musition have a fresh new interface, retaining the trademark ease-of-use of prior versions, and allowing users to easily access the new Courses feature. Every screen has been revised, with a renewed emphasis on consistency and ease-of-use.
Toolbars are now more informative, changing as required to highlight important information as students move through Drills, Lessons, Courses and Tests.
