London, UK, June 13, 2006 - His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent today visited the UK headquarters of Sibelius – a world-leading music software company and winners of the Queen's Award for Innovation. The Duke saw the latest version of Sibelius’s music notation software, Sibelius 4, which has revolutionised the way music is composed, transcribed and published – right across the world.

The Sibelius team also demonstrated Groovy Music, a suite of fun products for teaching music to primary school children. Groovy Music guides children through the elements of learning music from the ages of 5 through to 11 and is proving immensely popular with both pupils and teachers.

"We are particularly honoured by this visit, as it follows on from our recent Queen's Award for Innovation. It is an absolute pleasure to present our latest products and ideas to His Royal Highness, who clearly has a real passion for music education in this country," said Jeremy Silver, CEO of Sibelius.

Groovy Music builds on Sibelius’s well-established reputation as a leading supplier of music education software.

At the professional level, Sibelius 4 is used extensively in the music industry by acclaimed musicians such as Björk, Andy Summers and Sir George Martin. It has been influential in the production of film and television scores including Chronicles of Narnia, Lost and The Simpsons.
