Sibelius adds O-Generator to its Educational Suite

Sibelius continues to expand its Educational Suite with the distribution of Rock, Pop and Hip Hop composing software, O-Generator

Sibelius Software Limited today announces the distribution of the revolutionary music educational software O-Generator, part of its ever-increasing and highly-acclaimed Educational Suite of products.

The O-Generator ‘Learning to Compose’ software, created by music software developers and publishers O-Music, uses modern music genres to teach the fundamentals of music and composition. It is already immensely popular in both primary and secondary schools with many teachers crediting the package with effectively engaging young people in composition, thanks to an incredibly simple, step-by-step user interface. It is widely regarded as one of the most creative and intuitive methods of composition teaching today.

Aimed primarily at 10-16 year olds, O-Generator offers structured lessons providing creative objectives, activities, outcomes and assessments and is fully National Curriculum compliant.  One of the real attractions of O-Generator is that no previous musical knowledge is required and students can start creating tunes immediately by selecting sounds and notes from the
O-Generator, which is a full screen interactive graphical interface representing bars of music, in which students create their own beats, rhythms and melodies.

The software uses contemporary musical instruments, sounds and styles that young students most relate to and a ‘Virtual Music Teacher’ guides them through activities using simple language with a recorded voice-over, making it also ideal for non–specialist teachers.

Jeremy Silver, Sibelius Software Limited CEO, comments:

“We are delighted to be distributing O-Generator on behalf of O-Music.  It is an impressive programme and through the use of contemporary styles has shown itself to be a real hit in the classroom with children and teachers. O-Generator is a magnificent accompaniment to the existing products in our range and blends in well with our vision to encourage and nurture children’s musical talents.”

Marcel Pusey of O-Music said:

“We are very excited to be appointing Sibelius to distribute
O-Generator to a wider audience. Sibelius already produces and distributes some amazing educational programs and we’re very pleased to have O-Generator included in their Educational Suite.  Sibelius is very highly regarded within the industry and we’re confident that our partnership will continue to bring exciting developments to music education.”
