Auralia wins prestigious award at music conference

Australian music software developer  Rising Software has won the ‘Australian Made Product’ award at the Australian Music Association’s annual conference (AMAC 2005).

Rising Software won for its ear training music software Auralia, which was first released in Australia in 1995 and has become the most widely used aural training software in Australia the UK, US and many other countries.

As part of the Sibelius Education Suite range of products Auralia and Musition are distributed in Australia and around the world by Sibelius Software Ltd.

When asked what the award represented, Ian Harvey, member of the judging panel and AMA Executive Officer said:

‘In judging Best Australian Made Product, we had to consider not just how good a product was on its own merits but whether or not it had been successful in Australia and even more important, had it reached a significant level of success internationally. With its deep penetration into Australian schools and having been taken on by Sibelius Software for worldwide distribution, Auralia met the criteria in spades.’

Peter Lee and Hamish Moffat first started work on Auralia while still attending high school in Melbourne when they recognised the need for easier delivery of aural training in the classroom and for individual study.

Developer and Rising Software director Peter Lee said, "We’re delighted to have won the Australian Made award at the recent Australian Music Association conference.  It was a big surprise, and a great honour.   We look forward to continuing to bring innovative and exciting music software products to educators and students worldwide.”

Rising Software Pty. Ltd. develops ear training and music theory software for Windows and Macintosh platforms.
