The Piano Lesson
Developed by Elise Beckett Russell using Sibelius, The Piano Lesson leapt onto the scene in 2003. It is the only piano curriculum of its type that offers musicianship phases, assignment sheets, scales, theory, vocabulary and music appreciation, while allowing students to select their own repertoire.
The Piano Lesson incorporates best practices for the new as well as established piano studio, home school and classroom instruction. Ranging from Primer to Level 12, each book includes tailor-designed assignment sheets, level-appropriate scales, theory worksheets, vocabulary and music appreciation. The curriculum has been adopted by major universities as well as established piano teachers and home school parents.
A graduate of The University of Mississippi in Music Education, Elise Beckett Russell has been teaching since 1977. She maintains an active studio and has been featured in The Outstanding Young Women of America 1981, Who’s Who of American Women 2000 and Who’s Who in the World 2004.
