Updating to Sibelius 5.2 from Sibelius 5.1
Here are installation instructions for Windows and Mac.
If you are currently running Sibelius 5.0, not Sibelius 5.1, you should follow these installation instructions instead.
It is recommended that you do not update your copy of Sibelius in the middle of a project.
Installing the update on Windows
- Quit Sibelius 5.
- The file you have downloaded is a Windows Installer Patch (.msp) containing the files necessary to install Sibelius 5.2. Double-click the downloaded Sibelius52UpdateEnglish.msp file to begin installation.
- There will be a pause while the updater calculates the space requirements.
- After a few moments, you will see a screen that says Welcome to the Sibelius 5 Installation Wizard. Simply click Next.
- Now wait while the update is installed. A progress bar appears and will fill several times as various files are updated.
- You will be told that Sibelius 5 has been successfully installed. Click Finish.
- Now run Sibelius 5.2. Choose About Sibelius from the Help menu, and check the version number: it should read Version 5.2.0 build 188.
Installing the update on a Mac
- Quit Sibelius 5.1, if it is currently running.
- If the downloaded Sibelius52UpdateEnglish.dmg disk image does not mount automatically, double-click it to mount it.
- Double-click the Sibelius 5.2 Updater icon inside the mounted volume's window to begin the update.
- When the Installer application runs, click Continue.
- You are shown some interesting information about the fixes and improvements in Sibelius 5.2; you can click Print or Save if you want to read it in more detail. Otherwise, click Continue.
- You are shown the Sibelius License Agreement. Click Continue, then Agree.
- Now you are asked to Select a Destination. Choose the hard disk on which you currently have Sibelius 5.1 installed. Now click Continue.
- You are told how much space the update will take on your computer. Click Install.
- You are prompted to provide your computer's administrator password: do so, and click OK.
- Now a progress bar appears as the update is installed. This takes a few moments.
- You are told that installation completed successfully. Click Close.
- You can now eject the Sibelius 5.2 Updater volume and delete the downloaded disk image file if you wish.
- Sibelius 5.2 will now run. Choose About Sibelius from the Sibelius menu, and check the version number: it should read Version 5.2.0 build 188.
