Sibelius 4.1.5 installation instructions

Here are installation instructions for Windows and Mac.

Installing the update on Windows

Important! Before you install

  • Quit Sibelius 4
  • Quit any other running programs, including programs that are resident in your system notification area (the little area next to the clock in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen). In particular, you should temporarily quit (not just sign out) MSN Messenger, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, and your anti-virus software. (All of these programs have been known to "lock" the Windows Fonts folder, preventing the installation of updated copies of the Sibelius fonts.)

Installing the update

  • If you've not already downloaded the update, choose Help > Check For Updates in Sibelius to download it now and save it to your Desktop.
  • When the update has downloaded, double-click the Sibelius41to415Update.exe file on your Desktop to start the update.
  • If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, you may see a warning about running programs that you have downloaded from the Internet: just click Run.
  • A pretty splash screen appears, then the updater launches. Click Next.
  • You are given the opportunity to read the Sibelius license agreement. This has been updated and supersedes any previous license agreements you have agreed to. Read it, and click Next.
  • Things whizz by on the screen as Sibelius 4 is updated. Be patient: this can take a little while (and the estimate for how much time is remaining may not be accurate).
  • You will be told that your copy of Sibelius has been successfully updated. Click Finish.

After you install

Now run Sibelius again to check that it has been successfully updated. After running it, choose Help > About Sibelius to check the version number. It should read Version 4.1.5 build 104.
