462: Sibelius 4 & 5 fonts and earlier versions of Sibelius

Due to changes in Sibelius 4 (and above) to take advantage of the latest technologies in Mac OS X (ATSUI for font display and MLTE for text editing), Sibelius 4's (and above) music fonts (Opus, Inkpen2 and Helsinki) are not fully compatible with earlier versions of Sibelius.

Every time you run Sibelius 4 & 5 (either the demo or the full program) on your Mac, it will check to ensure that its fonts are correctly installed, and if it finds earlier versions of the fonts installed (e.g. from Sibelius 3 or earlier) it will install the new fonts.

For Sibelius 3 users

If you need to use Sibelius 3 after installing the Sibelius 4 or 5 demo, you will need to download an update to Sibelius 3.1.5, which is compatible with the Sibelius 4 (and above) fonts.

• Download the Sibelius 3.1.5 updater

For Sibelius 2.1 users

If you need to use Sibelius 2 after installing Sibelius 4 or 5, you will need to remove the Sibelius 4 fonts and reinstall the Sibelius 2.1 fonts.

• Go to \Applications\Sibelius 2\Resources
• Double click on the Install system items icon.
• Click Install -- this will simply reinstall the Sibelius 2 fonts.

NOTE: You will have to do this everytime you need to use Sibelius 2 after running Sibelius 4 or 5.
