611: Running Scorch in Safari on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Symptom
When you try to visit a web page that contains music displayed by Scorch in Safari on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, Scorch's window never appears, and the page never finishes loading.
Cause
If you have a 64-bit capable Mac (i.e. Intel Core 2 Duo or Intel Xeon processor), then Safari will run as a 64-bit process by default in Mac OS X 10.6. Scorch is a 32-bit browser plug-in, and so cannot run inside a 64-bit browser.
Solution
To work around this issue, do the following:
- Quit Safari.
- In the Finder, go to /Applications.
- Select the Safari icon and type Command-I to view the Get Info window.
- Switch on Open in 32-bit mode.
We hope to be able to support running Scorch directly within Safari running as a 64-bit process in a future version.
