624: How to transfer saving to a new computer

The following information applies to Sibelius versions 1 and 2.

NOTE: Sibelius 3 and later allows Sibelius to be registered on a second computer. It's possible to move the registration from one computer to another by unregistering on an old computer, affectively freeing up a license to be registered on a new computer. To upgrade Sibelius, click here

In order to Transfer Saving between two computers, please follow these directions:

  • Install Sibelius onto the second computer (Computer 2), run it and go to the File, Register/Transfer menu and choose Transfer Saving In. You will then receive a Computer Number.
  • Open Sibelius on the computer you have been using it on (Computer 1), go to the File, Register/Transfer menu and choose Transfer Saving Out. A dialog box will open which allows you to enter the Computer Number. Click OK to receive a Transfer Number.
  • Return to Computer 2 and type the Transfer Number in. Then click OK.

Saving has now been transferred between the two computers. This process can be reversed or performed again whenever necessary.

Troubleshooting

Transfer Restrictions

  • Both installations must be using the same serial number.
  • It is not possible to transfer between two copies (or versions) of Sibelius on the same computer.

Transfer Number Problems

  • If you copied down the number incorrectly and closed the dialog box, saving may become accidently disabled on both machines.
  • To solve this problem, you need to uninstall Sibelius from both computers. Make sure you delete the Sibelius folder found in C:\Program Files\Sibelius Software or the Applications folder on Mac. Then reinstall Sibelius on the new computer and register it as normal.

Sibelius Uninstalled, Saving Not Transferred

  • If saving was not transferred out before uninstalling Sibelius, you will be unable to use this function to enable saving on another computer.

If necessary, contact us for assistance with re-registering.
