588: The rotation of your screen changes when using Sibelius on a Dell computer

Problem:

When attempting to use Sibelius's shortcut keys on a Dell computer, the rotation of your screen changes.

Solution:

This problem is actually caused by the shortcut keys assigned to the Intel graphics card present in many Dell computers. Disabling these "Hot Keys" will prevent the problem occurring in the future. If you haven't yet managed to return your screen to the normal rotation, you should do so by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Up arrow.

  • Minimize or close any programs that are running so that your Desktop is visible
  • Right-click in empty space on the Desktop to open the context menu and choose Graphic Properties. (What does this look like?)
  • Select the Hot Keys tab at the side of the window. (Where?)
  • Deselect Enable Hot Keys (where?) and click OK
