537: Can not see Kontakt Player 2 in Sibelius - Getting Error C:\CVS\ni\1.5.2\gp\src\ Common/Init_GP.cpp:53

If you start Sibelius and you cannot see the Kontakt Player 2 in Sibelius 5 or you get this error:

C:\CVS\ni\1.5.2\gp\src\Common/Init_GP.cpp:53

it is likely that your computer does not meet the requirements specified for the Kontakt player here:

www.sibelius.com/products/sibelius/features/requirements.html

NOTE: for the Kontakt Player 2 to show in Sibelius you will need at least 1 GB of RAM in your computer

If your computer does meet the requirements above and you are still getting the error, please reinstall the Sibelius Sounds Essentials library found on your Sibelius 5 DVD-ROM.

Then check everything is correctly set up in Sibelius by doing the following:

  • Go to Play, Playback Devices and click Audio Engine Options.
  • From there make sure you have 'Use Virtual Instruments and effects' ticked. Also make sure you have something in each field for Interface, Buffer size etc...
  • The path to the VSTPlugins folder needs to point to the folder where the KontaktPlayer2.dll is installed. The default is:
    C:\Program Files\Sibelius Software\VSTPlugins
If this is wrong please click the 'Browse' button and set it correctly.
  • Now go to the VSTPlugins directory (default listed above) and check the KontaktPlayer2.dll is in there - if not please reinstall the Sibelius Sounds Essentials library, and during the installation make sure you select the correct VSTPlugins folder.
  • After checking the above please restart Sibelius.

If you have any more problems please go to your VSTPlugins folder (default: C:\Program Files\Sibelius Software\VSTPlugins) and delete KontaktPlayer2_8out.dll and KontaktPlayer2_16out.dll.
Then restart Sibelius.

If you are still having problems please go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 5
and right click the PlogueEngine folder, choose Send To -> Zipped (Compressed) Folder. Attach that to an email to [email protected] and we'll check it here for you.

Please note that the Application Data folder is often hidden by default. If you cannot see it, go to Tools > Folder options, then click the View tab and choose 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'. Click Apply, then the Application Data folder should appear.
