52: Scores folder - changing default location

The most recent versions of Sibelius allow you to select the default save location for your scores – click here to find out more about upgrading.

  • In Sibelius 4 and 5: choose File (Windows) or Sibelius (Mac) > Preferences > Files.
  • In Sibelius 2 and 3: choose File (Windows) or Sibelius (Mac) > Preferences > General.

In Sibelius 1.4, you can change the location of the default save folder by editing the Windows registry. Note that you should take a complete backup of the registry before you edit it, as making a mistake could render your machine inoperable. Sibelius cannot be held responsible for any loss of data caused by editing the registry.

  • Quit Sibelius if it is running
  • Go to Start > Run and type regedit
  • In the left-hand pane, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Sibelius Software > Sibelius > Preferences >Paths > Scores
  • In the right-hand pane, double-click the word (Default)
  • In the dialog that appears, enter the full path to the directory you want to use as the default save location, e.g. E:\Documents\Scores\, and click OK
  • Quit Regedit.
