460: Installation Problems (Windows) - Sibelius, G7, Photoscore and Scorch

If you find during the installation of Sibelius 2, 3, 4, Student or Instrumental Teacher Edition, G7, Photoscore or Scorch that the installer stops or hangs then this is probably caused by another program running in the background such as MSN Messenger 7.

Before you run the Sibelius, G7, Photoscore or Scorch installer you need to stop this other program from running. You also need to be logged into the comoputer as an Administrator

These programs can normally be found in the system tray as little icons just to the left of the clock in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

Right-click on these and select 'Exit' or 'Quit' and the icon will disappear. Do this for every icon you see. NOTE: Not all programs allow you to quit them, such as Anti-Virus programs. In these cases don't worry and try the next icon.

Once all of the background programs have quit you can run the Sibelius, G7, Photoscore or Scorch installer without any problems.

When the installer has finished you can restart your computer to finish the installation and that will also restart all the other programs that were running before.

If this does not fix the problem download the Sibelius 4 fonts from here; unzip this file and copy the fonts into the Windows fonts folder. You can find the Fonts folder by going to Start, Control Panel, Fonts.

An queries about the above please contact Sibelius Technical Help, by clicking the button to the right, with details of the problem and also outline any error messages you get on screen.
