46: Recommended - scanners

Sibelius will work with any Mac- or Windows-compatible scanner (preferably TWAIN-compatible). Flatbed scanners are now relatively inexpensive, and scanners made by UMAX, Epson and Hewlett-Packard should all give excellent results. SCSI scanners, or scanners which connect via the USB port, tend to be quicker than those which plug into the parallel (printer) port of your computer.

Hand-held scanners are not recommended as they can distort staves and other straight lines in the music, leading to less satisfactory results in PhotoScore.
