385: Sibelius 3.1.1 - list of bugs fixed in this update

The following is a list of the main bugs and problems reported by users that have been fixed in Sibelius 3.1.1.

Please note that Sibelius 3.1.1 is no longer the most up-to-date version of Sibelius 3. You should instead install the free update to Sibelius 3.1.3 - click here to download it.

Edit Symbols

  • Sibelius no longer crashes if you fail to choose a symbol to add to an existing symbol when creating a composite symbol in Edit Symbols

House styles

  • Sibelius no longer crashes when attempting to load a house style file that does not have a .lib file extension (Mac OS X only).

Instruments

  • The ranges of double bass instruments has been corrected (it is no longer an octave too high)
  • The ranges of euphoniums and baritone horns have been revised
  • The professional ranges of tenor and bass trombones have been revised
  • Corrections to the transpositions of low clarinets and saxophones (instruments listed as [bass clef, treble in parts]) and Sopranino saxophone in Bb [soprillo]
  • Minor changes to the instrument order in the Band instruments ensemble (in Layout > Instruments and Staves): Bb bass now appears after Eb bass; Baritone and Baritone horn now appear between Tenor Horn and Trombone [treble clef]

Manuscript papers

  • Brass band.sib has been revised (instrument ranges of trombones, euphoniums and baritone horns)
  • Wind band.sib has been revised (added alto clarinet, mallets, 2nd alto saxophone, 2nd cornet; changed bracketing; changed instrument ranges)

Menus and shortcuts

  • Keyboard shortcut problems when using non-English keyboard layouts on Mac OS X have been resolved.

Playback

  • The note played by Sibelius when selecting a note in the score or inputting a new note (i.e. the Play notes as you edit option in Play > Playback Options) is now always the correct length (Windows only)

Plug-ins

  • Updated version of Make Layout Uniform included.
  • Updated version of Realize Chord Symbols and Diagrams included.
  • Updated version of Save Folder of Scores as Web Pages included.

Selections and passages

  • Copying system passages containing changes of time signature no longer causes the bar before a time signature change to be pasted the wrong length.

Text

  • Creating time signatures using text (e.g. Create > Text > Other staff text > Time signatures (one staff only)) now works correctly on Mac OS X.

Window menu

  • Double-clicking the title bars of the floating windows (Navigator, Keypad, Properties, Mixer) no longer causes them to "stick" to the mouse pointer (Mac OS X only).
