378: Kontakt Player - may play at wrong sample rate with Waveterminal 192L soundcard

If you are using the Waveterminal 192L soundcard in your computer, you may experience a problem where playback via Kontakt Player in Sibelius drops an octave and/or suddenly drops in speed. This may happen if your computer plays a system alert sound (e.g. a "bong" when an error message appears), because the standard Windows sounds have a sample rate of 22.05Khz, and the default Kontakt Player sample rate is 44.1Khz. Kontakt Player is unable to automatically reset the sample rate after a system alert sound, with the consequence that it will continue to play as if the card's sample rate is set to 44.1Khz, when in fact it is set to 22.05Khz.

If this happens, simply open the Audio Settings dialog from the Kontakt Player window and click OK, which forces Kontakt Player to reset the soundcard's sample rate.

To solve this permanently, use the soundcard's Control Panel applet to fix the card's sample rate to 44.1Khz.
