364: Some staves in a score won't play back
If you find that some staves in your score won't playback then you need to check the MIDI channel allocation in the mixer. A common example is in an orchestral score when the string staves won't play.
To fix this go to the mixer (press M or go to Window > Mixer) and check the MIDI channels for each staff. (In Sibelius v1.x you go to the instruments dialog box, press I.) You may find that the string parts that won't play are on the same MIDI channel as the e.g. woodwinds.
This problem can be minimised or avoided by changing the MIDI channels. You have a possible 16 channels per MIDI device to play with and you can set any channels that have the same sound to be on the same MIDI channel. For example, all your strings can be on the same MIDI channel, all your French horns can be on the same channel, and if necessary your flute and piccolo could both share the one 'flute' sound, etc.
