337: Worksheets - creating underscores for students to write in their answers using Lyric text

In worksheets it's often necessary to leave blanks underneath the staff for the student to write in the answer to the question. Normally these blanks would be written using underscore (_) characters.

However, when typing lyrics (the most suitable text style since it automatically appears below the staff and snaps to notes), the underscore character produces a small upward-pointing slur or "elision" character.

To type an underscore character in Lyric text, type ALT+095 (on the numeric keypad), then copy and paste this character as needed.

Alternatively, you could use a short horizontal line from the Create > Line dialog.
