33: MIDI input - not working
A video on how to connect and setup a midi device with your computer is available:
Check Sibelius's Input Device settings:
- In Sibelius 6: choose File (Windows) or Sibelius 6 (Mac) > Preferences then select Input Devices from the left-hand column.
- In Sibelius 5: choose File (Windows) or Sibelius 5 (Mac) > Preferences then select Input Devices from the left-hand column.
- In Sibelius 4: choose Play > Playback and Input Devices then select the Input Devices tab
- In Sibelius 2 and 3; G7: choose Play > Devices
- In Sibelius 1: choose Play/Flexi-time > Equipment
Sibelius's Input Device dialog has a little black test indicator that will light up green when it receives a message from your MIDI keyboard. If it is not lighting up, please review the process outlined in the video, or try the steps below. If your version of Sibelius doesn't have this indicator, get an upgrade.
Check that MIDI OUT on the keyboard is connected to MIDI IN on the computer (and vice versa if your keyboard has sounds).
If this doesn't work and your computer has dual MIDI inputs, try connecting to the other MIDI IN socket.
Failing which, the problem is almost certainly due to a fault with your soundcard, soundcard driver, MIDI cables or MIDI keyboard (rather than Sibelius). Please contact your computer or MIDI keyboard supplier for assistance.
