278: 3Com Eu-synth sound card causes not available message

Currently, the 3Com Eu-synth sound card, supplied as an on-board sound card by some manufacturers, notably RM Connect, is found as a listed device in the Play/Flexi-time > Equipment dialog (Play > Devices in Sibelius 2 or later) but will not respond to the Test button.

The symptom is a message saying "A midi device can't be used" on starting Sibelius. This problem is likely to be caused by the drivers for this device and is under investigation. Pending a solution, we recommend the use of a separate sound card such as those produced by M-Audio, as they are relatively inexpensive and are known to work well with Sibelius.
