205: Swing - playing back with swing

In Sibelius 2 (and all later versions) you are able to play back your music with a swing tempo. You can either set the whole score to play back with swing, or have the swing only apply to certain sections of the score.

Applying swing to the whole score:

• Click on the Play menu and select Performance
• Swing playback can be controlled by the Rhythmic Feel option in this window.

Applying swing only to certain sections of the score:

• Make sure that your Rhythmic Feel option is set to 'straight'
• Add a Tempo Text object by clicking Create, Text, Tempo
• Type the word 'Swing' into the tempo text object.

Note: When you want to change back to straight playback without swing, simply follow the same instructions above, but this time using the word 'Straight' instead of 'Swing'.

To control swing in Sibelius 1.x, Click on Play/Flexi-time and select Swing
