Jeremy Silver
Avid Vice President and Managing Director
Jeremy joined Sibelius in May 2002.
He has 20 years experience in the music and technology industries. Previously he had senior roles at the British Phonographic Industry and then at the Virgin Records label, where he worked closely with many well-known artists including Bryan Ferry, Brian Eno and Massive Attack.
In 1995 he was appointed VP New Media for EMI Recorded Music Worldwide first in London and then in Los Angeles where he was also a founder director of the SDMI Foundation. He later went on to co-run the Internet music playlist-sharing company Uplister Inc. in San Francisco. He has been an advisor to many other digital music companies including Shazam Entertainment and Streamwaves.com.
Jeremy has a PhD in English Literature from the University of London.
Alison Kerr
Managing Director - Worldwide Marketing
Alison joined Sibelius in July 1998 after working as a film and television producer for Lexington Films and Mentorn Films, making feature films, dramas and documentaries for the BBC, Channel Four and BSkyB.
Previously she worked for Saatchi & Saatchi PR subsidiary The Rowland Company, handling major clients such as IBM, Nokia, Harley Davidson and Yamaha.
Alison is also a bassoonist and singer.
Adam Brown
Finance Director
Adam joined Sibelius in September 2004.
Adam is a qualified chartered accountant and has over 16 years’ experience in finance with rapidly growing technology companies. Adam was a key member of the management team as Finance Director that expanded The Harpur Group Limited from its UK base through acquisition and organic growth to have operations throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia. Adam was responsible for successful negotiation and integration of acquisitions within the UK, US and Australia and was responsible for the completion of a company disposal valued at $200 million. Adam was also responsible for raising and managing multi-million debt facilities.
Adam moved on to become CFO at Workshare Limited, the leaders in document comparison software, with operations in the UK and US. Adam was responsible for raising multi-million equity finance and for implementing operational infrastructure to support rapid growth in both regions.
Philip Nicol
Director - Americas
Philip joined Sibelius in March of 2005.
Philip has over 20 years experience in finance, operations, and acquisitions with technology and manufacturing firms. He previously served as chief financial officer and vice president of operations at several privately-held corporations including Belgium-based software developer Bricsnet, where he managed clients such as American Express, Deutsche Bank, and Marriott International. Previously, he led operations and expansion in the US, Europe, Singapore, and Hong Kong for companies such as Viscomm, (prior to its acquisition by Bricsnet), and Ibis (prior to its sale to a private investment group). He spent 5 years in public accounting after starting his career in banking. Philip has a Bachelor's degree from The University of California.
John Bienvenue
Director - Australia
John joined Sibelius Software in Australia in 2005.
He has over 18 years' experience in music software marketing and distribution to the music instruments and education sectors. He was born in Canada, where in 1980 he co-founded The Media Works Group. He wrote for and co-produced commercial and non-commercial productions, played live and on recordings, and was first-call guitarist for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 1988 John moved to Australia and took up the position of National Marketing Manager for Graphic Notes, publishers of Australian developed Music Publisher. In 1994 he formed Intelliware Australia with Roland Corporation Australia, a joint venture company with Roland Corporation Japan. He was responsible for establishing Intelliware as Australia's most successful music software distributor.
Jonathan Finn
Founder
While a music student at Oxford University, Jonathan developed the original Sibelius program with his twin brother Ben. They had both previously been choristers in King’s College Choir, Cambridge, and taught themselves computer programming at school.
After university, Jonathan co-founded Sibelius in 1993, specializing in the technical side of the business.
Among numerous accolades he has won in recognition of Sibelius’ contribution to music, in 1995 Jonathan was appointed Visiting Professor of Notation Technology at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and in 2003 he was given the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters’ Gold Badge Award (together with other leading music industry figures such as Sir Cliff Richard).
He is also a composer, bassoonist and pianist.
Ben Finn
Founder
While he was at Cambridge University, Ben developed the original Sibelius program with his twin brother Jonathan. They had both previously been choristers in King’s College Choir, Cambridge, and taught themselves computer programming at school. Ben also studied composition with George Benjamin at the Royal College of Music, London.
Ben co-founded Sibelius in 1993 while still a student at Cambridge, specializing in the sales & marketing side of the business.
Among numerous accolades he has won in recognition of Sibelius’ contribution to music, in 2003 he was given the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters’ Gold Badge Award (together with other leading music industry figures such as Sir Cliff Richard).
Ben is also a composer, tenor and pianist.
