525: Sibelius appearing to hang or is crashing on exit on Windows Vista
Although we support Sibelius 4.1.5 on Windows Vista we have found that it needs to be run as an Administrator, even though you may be logged into Windows Vista as an Administrator user anyway.
To make Sibelius always run as Administrator:
- Firstly quit Sibelius if it's already running (you may need to do Ctrl+Alt+Delete and end the Sibelius task)
- Go to Computer, Local Disk C:, Program Files, Sibelius Software, Sibelius 4
- Inside this Sibelius 4 folder right-click on the Sibelius icon and choose Properties
- At the top of the window that comes up click on the Compatibility tab
- There, tick the option to 'Run this program as an Administrator'
- Click OK
Now, when you run Sibelius you shouldn't find that it appears to hang or is crashing on exit. If you find it still does then make sure your Sound card, Graphics card and Printer drivers are all up to date by checking their manufacturer's websites.
Please be aware that Sibelius 4 has not been fully tested under Windows Vista, and if you are running this version of Windows, you are recommended to upgrade to Sibelius 5, which does support Windows Vista.
